The most economical and eco-friendly dishwashing solution is to use a dishwasher. However, if you have chosen to wash by hand, it is worth following a few simple rules that will allow us to save water and detergents, as well as quite a lot of time. It’s also worth investing in a few gadgets that will make this task much easier.

Efficient washing

Before you start washing the dishes, you should prepare yourself properly. You should start by choosing a dishwashing liquid – it’s not worth saving money on this, because the higher quality the liquid is, the less you’ll need it. Concentrated dishwashing liquid is a good choice. Another important thing to prepare is a sponge and a brush

Organize your workspace well. If you have a two compartment sink, designate one for washing and the other for rinsing. It’s also important to have a dish drying rack in close proximity to the sink. It’s good that it can hold as many dishes as possible, and that it’s easy to clean or drain. You can look for quality dish dryers at https://mantecodesign.pl/suszarki-do-naczyn.

Start sooner rather than later

Buying the ingredients, cooking, having a delicious dinner, and finally…washing up. Most people dream of skipping the last point. Ideally, the dishes should be put off until the morning or evening. Nothing could be further from the truth! You should start washing up right after cooking and even before eating. This will prevent food from drying out in pots and pans. All such dishes should be soaked in water right away. Washing up after a meal will be much easier.

Saving water

Everyone should care about the environment, and one of the first steps is to reduce water use. Here are some steps that will make it easier for you to wash your dishes and save you some water, time and detergent:

  • before you start washing – remove all leftovers from your dishes,
  • sort the dishes according to how dirty they are and you can also categorise them and put them in order of washing,
  • start with the least dirty ones and leave the dirtiest ones for last,
  • if something needs soaking first (e.g. burnt pots), don’t forget to do it,
  • wash dishes in hot water – the warmer it is, the faster and more effectively it removes dirt and grease,
  • ideally, the water should be poured into the sink or the pots placed in the sink – this is the first step to saving money,
  • if you decide to wash dishes under running water – invest in an aerator and a tap with a lever (these solutions will definitely reduce water consumption),
  • always dose detergent on a sponge or a brush. Remember that three or four drops of a concentrate are enough. Do not pour the liquid over the dishes – it is only a waste,
  • move washed dishes to a second bowl and rinse in larger quantities – not one at a time. Use cool water for rinsing, it’s cheaper than hot.

Gadgets

If you want to make washing dishes even easier, you can invest in additional gadgets. Among the most interesting ones are dishwashing gloves, which will replace a sponge and, thanks to rubber spikes, will allow you to clean the most difficult dirt. Another interesting idea are special baskets mounted in the corner of the sink, which make it easier to collect leftovers from dishes. Automatic liquid dispensers are also worth noting – just put a sponge/hand under the sink and the dispenser releases exactly as much liquid as you need to apply to the sponge at one time.
